The Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Smt. Nimbuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, visited the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Silo Plant at Kayavarohan in Vadodara on 13 September 2026. During the visit, she reviewed the operations and infrastructure of this facility, which handles grain storage and distribution in the region.
What the Minister saw and reviewed
The Minister was given a detailed briefing on how the silo plant operates. She inspected several key areas of the facility:
- Grain storage systems
- Procurement operations
- Handling of wheat-carrying wagons
- Automation systems used in the plant
- Laboratory testing facilities
The FCI silo plant at Kayavarohan uses modern, automated equipment for handling and storing foodgrains. These facilities represent the type of infrastructure the FCI relies on to manage the procurement, storage and movement of grains across the country.
As part of her visit, the Minister also took part in a tree-planting drive at the facility. Senior officials present during the visit included FCI Gujarat Region General Manager Shri Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Deputy General Manager Shri Amit Tiwari, and FCI Vadodara Division’s Divisional Manager Shri Sham Lal, along with other officials.
