The Defence Accounts Department under the Ministry of Defence has completed the normalization of all problematic pension records for retired Air Force and Navy personnel on SPARSH, the government’s digital pension administration system. The department cleared 1,45,182 disputed cases through a coordinated effort across its offices. This achievement is part of a broader push to modernize how defence pensions are managed and processed.
What was cleared and how many cases
The Indian Air Force had 1,12,638 discrepant pension cases on the SPARSH system. All of these have now been normalized, or corrected, achieving 100 per cent completion. The Indian Navy similarly had 32,544 such cases, and these too have been fully resolved at 100 per cent.
The Department has also made progress on Army pension cases. Out of 3,94,779 total discrepant cases for the Indian Army, 3,90,336 cases have been normalized, representing 98.8 per cent completion.
The normalization process involved focused examination of each case and coordinated action between the Controller General of Defence Accounts and the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pension). The department undertook this work in mission mode with close monitoring to ensure accuracy and speed.
