Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open SEMICON India 2026, a major semiconductor and electronics conference, on 17 September 2026 in New Delhi. The three-day event will bring together companies, governments, investors and researchers from around the world to discuss India’s role in the global semiconductor supply chain. This is being organised by the Prime Minister’s Office.
What the event will include
SEMICON India 2026 will run from 17 to 19 September at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the conference at around 10 AM and address the gathering.
More than 600 companies will participate, with visitors and representatives expected from 52 countries. Around 50,000 people are projected to attend. There will be more than 400 senior executives present and over 150 speakers.
The conference theme is ‘Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem’. It will showcase the complete journey of semiconductor manufacturing, from raw materials through chip design, fabrication, packaging and final electronics systems. A new display called ‘Sand to Silicon to Systems’ Value Chain Experience will illustrate this progression.
The event will feature six Country Pavilions from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and Sweden. There will also be 12 booths representing different Indian states, along with dedicated spaces for startups, student innovations and workforce development programmes.
Parallel sessions will cover topics including advances in display technology, women’s leadership in the industry, and six country roundtables designed to encourage business collaboration and joint ventures between Indian and foreign companies.
What this means for you
If you work in semiconductors, electronics, manufacturing or related fields, this conference offers direct access to major global companies and policymakers. Students interested in these industries will have opportunities to showcase their skills through the hackathon and workforce pavilion. For startups, the dedicated pavilion provides exposure to investors and established companies. The event signals India’s growing importance in the global semiconductor sector and the government’s push to develop domestic expertise and manufacturing capacity.
