The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has unveiled two digital platforms designed to track India’s progress towards climate goals. Union Minister of State Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh launched the Net Zero Portal and the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) Dashboard on World Ozone Day 2026 in Mumbai. These tools are intended to make climate commitments and progress measurable across Indian organisations and government departments.
What the platforms do
The Net Zero Portal works as a central digital system where Indian companies, organisations and other entities can voluntarily register their commitments to reach net zero emissions. Participating organisations must disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and declare their net zero targets. They are required to report Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions annually, though reporting of Scope 3 emissions is optional. Entities can also describe their transition plans, covering areas such as renewable energy adoption, energy efficiency improvements, new technology deployment and carbon removal activities. Organisations that successfully declare net zero targets will receive formal acknowledgement from the Ministry. All registered commitments will be publicly visible, creating a single repository of voluntary climate actions across the country.
The NAPCC Dashboard provides a unified monitoring system for all national climate missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change. It collates information and performance indicators from various ministries and departments involved in climate work. The dashboard helps track sectoral progress, identify where implementation is falling short and coordinates efforts across government bodies. It also helps link domestic climate actions to India’s international climate promises.

If you work for a company or organisation, your employer may choose to register on the Net Zero Portal and declare climate targets. The public portal will let citizens and investors see which organisations have committed to net zero and how they are progressing. For government officials, the NAPCC Dashboard offers better tools to monitor whether different ministries are meeting their climate responsibilities.
