The Reserve Bank of India research internship is aimed at people who want to do serious economic or statistical research rather than get a general tour of the central bank. Interns are attached to one of four research heavy departments, covering economic and policy research, statistics and information management, financial stability and international relations, and they work on live research questions alongside bank economists.
It is unusually well paid for an internship and unusually long, running six months at a time and renewable in six month blocks up to a maximum of two years, which makes it closer to a research assistantship. Candidates are expected to hold a postgraduate degree in economics, statistics, econometrics or finance, or a comparable technical qualification, with working knowledge of statistical software an advantage.
