The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has completed a year-long cleanliness and digital governance push called Special Campaign 5.0, running from October 2025 through August 2026. The initiative aimed to improve how the ministry handles records, reduces paper use, clears pending public complaints and manages office space more efficiently.
What was achieved
The campaign began with a preparation phase from 15 to 30 September 2025, during which staff identified old files needing closure, listed items for disposal and checked for outdated equipment and electronic waste.
Key results included:
- Complete clearance of all pending public grievances and grievance appeals, reducing backlog to zero
- Closure or weeding of 172 files to improve record organisation and free up office space
- Proper disposal of obsolete materials and electronic waste following environmental rules
- Increased use of digital systems like e-Office and e-HRMS to reduce paper dependency
- Continued promotion of the National e-Vidhan Application, or NeVA, among State Legislatures to enable paperless legislative work
- Coordination with other ministries and State Legislatures to resolve pending Parliamentary Assurances, Rule 377 matters and other legislative items
The ministry conducted regular cleanliness drives and inspections led by senior officers throughout the campaign period. Information about activities and achievements was shared on social media to raise awareness about the Special Campaign 5.0 goals.
What this means for you
Citizens filing grievances with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs can expect faster resolution, as the ministry has eliminated its backlog entirely. Government work involving parliamentary matters should now move more smoothly, with reduced delays from outdated record systems. If you interact with State Legislatures that have adopted NeVA, expect quicker handling of legislative business and improved transparency, since the platform enables digital document sharing and reduces physical paperwork.
