The Department of Food and Public Distribution, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, will conduct Special Campaign 6 from 2nd October to 31st October 2026. The nationwide initiative aims to strengthen cleanliness standards, clear pending administrative matters, and improve how government offices manage records, space and waste.
What the campaign will focus on
Special Campaign 6 will address six main areas across Department offices and related organisations:
- Clearing old pending files and administrative matters
- Better organisation and management of records
- Freeing up unused office space
- Proper disposal of electronic waste
- General cleanliness drives
- Beautification of office premises
This is the sixth such campaign. The Department completed Special Campaign 5 in October 2025. During that month-long effort, it removed 1,23,853 old files from storage, cleared 49,830 square feet of office space, and earned Rs. 1.67 crore by auctioning scrap material. Between November 2025 and August 2026, the Department continued these efforts outside the formal campaign period, freeing another 72,577 square feet of space and generating Rs. 25.95 lakh in revenue. Staff also conducted 1,493 cleanliness drives across Department locations during these nine months.
What this means for you
If you interact with Department of Food and Public Distribution offices, you can expect better organised premises, faster handling of administrative requests, and improved working conditions. The campaign reflects government efforts to make public offices more efficient and environmentally responsible by managing electronic waste properly and reducing paper accumulation. For those dealing with pending matters at these offices, the dedicated campaign period may mean quicker resolution of stuck cases and better record retrieval.
