SEMICON India 2026 Concludes Successfully, Showcasing India’s Growing Role in the Global Semiconductor Ecosystem

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has announced the successful conclusion of SEMICON India 2026, the country’s flagship semiconductor conference held in New Delhi from 17 to 19 September. The three-day event drew over 51,600 registrations and attracted more than 600 exhibitors, including approximately 300 international companies, demonstrating India’s expanding presence in global semiconductor markets.

Key Numbers and Announcements

The conference recorded approximately 40,000 total footfall across the three days. Participants came from 52 countries, with six country pavilions representing Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and Sweden. India’s 12 state pavilions also showcased regional contributions to the semiconductor sector.

During the event, 56 memoranda of understanding and strategic initiatives were announced, covering semiconductor design, fabrication, advanced packaging, equipment and materials, power electronics, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, research and development, and workforce development.

The Government outlined Semicon 2.0, a new phase of semiconductor development with an outlay of ₹1,27,500 crore. This scheme is structured around six areas: design, machines and materials, new fabrication plants, advanced packaging, research and development, and talent development.

The Digital India RISC-V Grand Challenge under the Chips to Startup Programme received entries from 1,236 teams comprising 5,045 participants. Three industry-sponsored hackathons organised by KLA, Synopsys and Lam Research drew over 3,800 team registrations from more than 900 colleges.
