The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has inaugurated the Indora Chowk-Dighori Flyover in Nagpur, a structure spanning approximately 8.9 kilometres on National Highway No. 353D. The project was opened on 19 September 2026 by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The flyover connects the northern and southern parts of Nagpur city and has been named after Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar to mark the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Key Details
The flyover was built using Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) technology, which allowed construction crews to create longer spans between support pillars using fewer structural supports overall. This approach shortened the construction timeline significantly compared to conventional methods.
The National Highways Authority of India undertook the project at a cost of approximately ₹1,000 crore. The new route reduces travel time between Indora and Dighori from about one hour to between 10 and 15 minutes.
The flyover connects five directions at Ashok Square, where an Ashoka Pillar has been installed alongside Constitution-themed murals and decorative lighting. Entry and exit ramps have been built at three locations: Daga Hospital, Reshimbagh Chowk and Bada Tajbagh. An elevated passage over the Metro corridor has been constructed at Agrasen Chowk to allow multi-lane traffic flow.
