The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched the India Cine Hub, a centralized online platform designed to make it easier for filmmakers to obtain shooting permits across the country. Run by the National Film Development Corporation of India, the portal consolidates what were once scattered state-level approvals, police clearances, and visa applications into a single digital system. The move aims to attract both Indian and international filmmakers by removing bureaucratic obstacles that previously required navigating multiple state authorities.
How the system works
The India Cine Hub offers several core services. Domestic and international creators can submit a single application for filming permissions instead of approaching each state separately. The portal integrates state-level systems and provides a common application form for states without their own online processes. International filmmakers can also apply for Film Visas through the platform. The system handles applications for co-production ventures and supplies detailed guidelines on aerial filming, animal filming, forest shoots, and monument locations.
The platform includes a geographic information system that maps shooting locations across India and identifies the relevant permit authorities in each area. It maintains a directory of verified vendors and resources, including post-production companies, equipment rental firms, hotels, catering units, casting agencies, and security services across different states.
The platform is also expanding to manage live event permissions through coordination with nine major venues, using a venue-mapping system to route proposals to local authorities and nodal officers.
