Launched by the Maharashtra government in 2024, it pays eligible women Rs 1,500 every month directly into their bank accounts. eKYC: why your instalment may have stopped

After complaints that ineligible people had enrolled, the state began a verification drive in 2025. It found around 26 lakh applications that did not meet the rules, including men and more than one woman from the same family beyond the permitted limit, and payments to them were stopped. The government then made Aadhaar-based eKYC compulsory for every beneficiary, with a deadline that ran till 31 December 2025. Those who did not complete eKYC risk having their payments held.

How eKYC is done on the portal:

  1. Open ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in and click the eKYC link.
  2. Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha, give consent and verify the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile.
  3. Enter your husband’s or father’s Aadhaar number and verify with OTP.
  4. Confirm the declarations: no family member is a government employee, and not more than one married and one unmarried woman from the family are beneficiaries.
  5. Submit and note the confirmation message.

The eKYC link and deadlines have changed several times. Check the portal or ask your anganwadi worker for the current window.

How to check your status and payment

  • Application status: log in to ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in or the Nari Shakti Doot app with your mobile number and OTP, and open Applications made earlier.
  • Payment status: check your bank passbook or SMS. Payments come by DBT and are named as Ladki Bahin or the Women and Child Development Department.
  • If the money has not come: make sure your bank account is linked to Aadhaar and DBT-enabled through your bank or the NPCI mapper, and that your eKYC is complete.

What about Rs 2,100 a month?

During the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly election, the ruling alliance promised to raise the benefit to Rs 2,100 a month. As of September 2026, the monthly amount paid remains Rs 1,500. Any increase will be announced by the state government, usually in the budget. Be careful with messages or websites that claim otherwise.

Avoid fake websites

Several unofficial sites use the scheme’s name. The only official portal is ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in, and applications and eKYC are free. Do not pay anyone to fill forms, and do not share OTPs with strangers.
