The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Digital India BHASHINI Division and the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) have jointly launched “CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad”, an artificial intelligence powered tool designed to automatically translate official audit documents and reports into Indian languages. The launch took place on 30 September 2026 during the closing ceremony of the 74th Hindi Diwas and Hindi Pakhwada at the CAG Office in New Delhi.
This collaboration aims to make government audit findings and reports accessible to citizens in their own languages, rather than only in English or Hindi. The tool uses BHASHINI’s multilingual language technology to provide consistent and contextually accurate translations while maintaining security and data protection standards required by government institutions.

What the CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad tool does
CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad is a customised artificial intelligence solution built specifically for the Comptroller and Auditor General’s office. Digital India BHASHINI is a national platform for artificial intelligence powered multilingual services run by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The platform currently supports 36 Indian languages for written text, 23 Indian languages for voice and speech, and 35 international languages.
BHASHINI already powers over 800 government websites and processes more than 24 million AI inferences every day, making it one of India’s major language technology infrastructure projects. Beyond translation, the platform supports agricultural advisory services, grievance registration, and conversational services through voice and telephone interfaces in multiple languages.
Integration with Hindi language promotion
The CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad launch was paired with technology enabled activities during Hindi Pakhwada 2026, an annual event from 14 to 29 September dedicated to promoting Hindi and Indian languages in government offices. Alongside traditional Hindi language activities, BHASHINI developed interactive games and competitions to familiarise CAG officers and employees with language technology tools.
These activities included competitions on official language usage, Hindi writing and drafting, translation work, typing skills and other language based exercises. The collaboration demonstrated how artificial intelligence can support both practical institutional work and employee engagement with language learning and usage.
