The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) has launched a redesigned website built to meet India’s new Digital Brand Identity Manual standards. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh unveiled the portal on 13 October 2026, marking a shift toward more accessible government services for farmers, livestock businesses and citizens seeking information on animal husbandry programmes.
The new website was developed following guidelines from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the Digital Brand Identity Manual Version 3.0. The portal consolidates information from multiple animal husbandry and dairy schemes run by the central government, giving stakeholders a single entry point for policy details, scheme applications and livestock management resources.
Key facts
- Website launched on 13 October 2026 by Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying
- Follows Digital Brand Identity Manual Version 3.0 standards set by MeitY
- Developed by DAHD IT team in coordination with National Informatics Centre (NIC)
- Website address: www.dahd.gov.in
- Covers four major schemes: Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF), Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), National Livestock Mission (NLM), and Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP)
What the new website offers
The redesigned portal introduces several user-facing improvements aimed at making government livestock policies more understandable. An advanced search function helps visitors quickly locate scheme details or specific information. The site works in multiple Indian languages through the Bhashini translation platform, removing language barriers for farmers and small livestock producers across states.
Navigation has been restructured around user categories, known as persona-led design. Rather than forcing visitors to navigate by department structure, the website guides farmers, dairy entrepreneurs, researchers and government officials to content relevant to their needs. A centralized content management system allows the department to update information consistently across all pages, reducing outdated or conflicting information.
Schemes now accessible through the portal
The website serves as a digital hub for major central sector schemes in livestock and dairy development. The Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund provides loans for building processing units, cold chains and storage facilities. The Rashtriya Gokul Mission focuses on indigenous cattle breeds and genetic improvement. The National Livestock Mission addresses productivity gaps in cattle, buffalo, sheep and goat farming. The Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme funds veterinary infrastructure and animal disease surveillance.
For each scheme, users can access policy objectives, eligibility criteria, application procedures, downloadable guidelines and relevant forms without visiting multiple government offices or portals.
Connection to Digital India initiative
The minister tied the website launch to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision and the concept of Minimum Government, Maximum Governance. The policy emphasizes reducing bureaucratic touchpoints while expanding service delivery through digital channels. For animal husbandry, this means farmers can research schemes, download documents and potentially apply online rather than making trips to district offices.
What this means for you
If you are a dairy farmer, cattle breeder or livestock producer, the portal provides centralised information on government support programmes without visiting multiple websites or offices. Researchers and agricultural officials can access consolidated livestock data and departmental initiatives in one location. The multi-language interface makes scheme details available to vernacular-speaking farmers, lowering barriers to understanding subsidy programmes and loan schemes designed to strengthen the sector.
Agricultural entrepreneurs seeking information on cold chain funding, dairy processing loans or animal health programmes can now search and compare schemes more easily. The transparent display of guidelines and eligibility criteria allows applicants to assess whether they qualify before submitting applications.
What happens next
The Union Minister has encouraged all stakeholders to explore and use the new website features. The department will continue to update the portal with latest scheme information, policy changes and implementation updates. Citizens, farmers and businesses can visit www.dahd.gov.in to access services and information.
