EPFO urges establishments to utilize the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign, 2026 to ensure social security for employees outside EPF coverage

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has launched the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign, 2026 through the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). This special initiative allows employers to bring workers into the EPF system who were previously left out, providing them with social security benefits they may have missed.

Key details of the campaign

The campaign became effective from 29 June 2026 and will run until 31 October 2026. It targets employees who remained outside EPF coverage between 1 April 2009 and 31 March 2026 but continue to work with their current employer.

Eligible employers can declare and enrol these workers through an online process. The campaign offers important relaxations to ease compliance. Where an employer failed to deduct the employee’s share of contributions earlier, the campaign allows this amount to be waived, subject to campaign conditions.

For each enrolled worker, employers must:

  • Generate a Face Authentication-based UAN (Universal Account Number) through the UMANG App
  • Submit contributions using the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) system
  • Complete both enrolment and payment before the deadline

The campaign applies to workers who are still alive and actively employed with the establishment on the date they are declared under the scheme.

What this means for you

If you work in an organised establishment and were employed between 2009 and 2026 but were never enrolled in EPF, your employer may now be able to bring you into the system. This gives you access to pension, provident fund and insurance protection you may have been denied. Employers have a limited window until the end of October 2026 to complete this process, so workers should check with their HR departments about whether they fall under this scheme. The EPFO is running awareness campaigns across government departments, states and public sector organisations to ensure this opportunity reaches as many eligible workers and employers as possible.
