The event recognised outstanding contributions to sanitation and environmental work across the ministry’s divisions and field offices.
What happened during the drive and who won
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation conducted Swachhata Pakhwada (a fortnight-long cleanliness campaign) from 1st to 15th July 2026. All divisions, attached organisations and field offices across the country took part in activities ranging from tree planting and awareness campaigns to community cleanups, workshops and competitions.
Specific initiatives included reducing single-use plastic, segregating waste, recycling efforts and sustainable waste management practices. The ministry also organised nukkad nataks (street theatre), sea beach cleaning drives, shramdaan (voluntary labour) and waste-to-wealth projects. Schools, mohallas and public spaces saw participation from ministry staff and community members.
Three offices received recognition at the prize ceremony chaired by the ministry’s Secretary:
- First Prize: Field Operations Division
- Second Prize: National Statistical Systems Training Academy
- Third Prize: Indian Statistical Institute
The Secretary presented mementos to these three organisations and praised all officers and officials across the ministry for their efforts.
