The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions held its 39th webinar in the National Good Governance Webinar Series on 25 August 2026. The session focused on how government initiatives that have won the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration can be sustained and expanded to other parts of the country. The webinar brought together over 600 locations across India, including senior administrators from state and district governments.
What was discussed
The webinar centered on Shiksha Setu, Axom, an initiative from Assam that received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2024. Two presentations were made to the national audience:
- Dr. Om Prakash, Commissioner and Secretary of Forest, Environment and Climate Change in the Assam government, spoke about the initiative itself and how it has been kept running sustainably.
- Ms. Dipika Choudhury, Inspector of School in Kamrup Metropolitan, Guwahati, discussed how the key elements of the scheme are being put into practice and expanded to reach more people.
The event was chaired by Shri Puneet Yadav, Additional Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. Attendees included senior officers from the department, administrative reform officials from states and union territories, district collectors, and officials from training institutes across the country.
The bigger picture
In April 2022, the Prime Minister directed the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances to arrange regular virtual conferences where past winners of the Prime Minister’s Award could share their experiences with other government officials. The goal was to help spread successful ideas and encourage other districts and states to adopt similar approaches. This is the 39th such webinar held so far. Each webinar typically draws around 1,000 officials from various government departments, state administrations, district offices, and training institutions.
