Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in late August and early September 2026. The Prime Minister’s Office announced that he will first visit Uzbekistan on a bilateral trip, then travel to Kyrgyzstan to attend a major regional summit. This will be his fourth visit to Uzbekistan.
The Visit Schedule and Activities
From 29 to 30 August 2026, Prime Minister Modi will be in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During this state visit, he will hold talks with the Uzbek President to discuss strengthening ties between India and Uzbekistan.
The two leaders are expected to review cooperation across several areas:
- Trade and investment
- Defence
- Digital connectivity
- Energy
- Education
- People-to-people exchanges
The Prime Minister will also discuss India’s development vision for 2047 and Uzbekistan’s 2030 agenda. During his time in Tashkent, he is expected to visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
From 31 August to 1 September 2026, Prime Minister Modi will be in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit. This event marks the 25th anniversary of the SCO, the regional security and economic grouping of which India became a full member in 2017. At the Summit, the Prime Minister will present India’s priorities in the areas of security, connectivity and opportunity. He will also hold separate bilateral meetings with other SCO leaders attending the event.
Additionally, he will attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, which celebrates Central Asian cultural traditions.
