The Ministry of Defence will hold the second annual Trident Lecture of the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS) on September 1, 2026, at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. Raksha Rajya Mantri (Defence Minister) Shri Sanjay Seth will inaugurate the event. The lecture series brings together defence leadership to discuss how India’s armed forces can work together for national development.
What is happening
The Trident Lecture is organised around the theme “National Resurgence through the Lens of Defence Forces” as part of CENJOWS’s anniversary celebrations.
Key speakers at the event include:
- Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chairman of CENJOWS, who will speak on emerging patterns of jointness and integration in defence
- Lt Gen Raj Shukla (Retd), who will address civil-military cooperation for national growth
- Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, who will discuss multi-domain operations and the concept of jointness
- Raksha Rajya Mantri, who will deliver a special address on using the potential of the younger generation for nation building
The deliberations will focus on how different branches of the armed forces can work together, multi-domain operations, cooperation between civilian and military sectors, and the role of defence forces in nation building.
CENJOWS was established in 2007 under the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff. It functions as a research and analysis organisation for all three services—Army, Navy and Air Force—and examines issues related to joint operations, national security and the strategic use of national resources.
What this means for you
The lecture represents official thinking on how India’s defence establishment plans to strengthen coordination between its military branches and integrate civilian sectors into national defence strategy. For defence professionals, policy researchers and those tracking India’s military modernisation, the event will offer insights into strategic priorities around jointness and multi-domain capabilities. The participation of senior military leadership signals the importance defence planners attach to unified operations in addressing contemporary security challenges.
