The Ministry of Labour & Employment has extended the submission window for its Digital Shram Sankalp Ideation Hackathon to 18 September 2026. The nationwide competition, which began on 5 August 2026, seeks technology-based solutions to strengthen India’s labour systems using artificial intelligence and related tools.
The hackathon is open to students, start-ups, innovators, researchers and technology professionals who wish to propose improvements to the government’s labour platforms.
What the hackathon covers
Participants are invited to submit ideas for three main digital platforms run by the Ministry:
- eShram
- National Career Service (NCS)
- Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0
The hackathon contains 12 separate problem statements across different areas of labour ecosystem. Ideas may use emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Digital Public Infrastructure and interoperable digital systems.
Solutions are expected to improve employment services, worker welfare, regulatory compliance, platform ease of use, data quality and system integration.
The hackathon has already received around 1,000 user submissions totalling 1,368 ideas across the problem statements since its launch.
Prizes and recognition
The top five ideas under each problem statement will receive cash prizes. All eligible participants will receive a Digital Certificate of Participation from the Ministry of Labour & Employment. Selected winners may be invited to present their proposals to senior Ministry officials. Ideas judged as promising may move toward pilot testing and further development, with appropriate recognition given to the creators.
