The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has organised a press tour to Hyderabad for a group of journalists from Uttarakhand. The 15-member delegation, headed by Shri Sanjeev Sundriyal, Assistant Director of the Press Information Bureau in Dehradun, is visiting the city from 31 August to 4 September 2026. The tour aims to expose these journalists to Central Government development work and initiatives operating in Telangana.
What the delegation is visiting
The journalists began their tour at the Press Information Bureau office in Hyderabad on the first day. Officials there, including Smt Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of PIB Hyderabad, and Dr Manas Krishnakanth, Joint Director, briefed them on media trends in Telangana and how the PIB and Central Bureau of Communication share information about Government policies and flagship programmes with the public.
The delegation has also visited the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), which operates under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. There, the journalists learned about India’s ocean monitoring systems, the Tsunami Early Warning System, and how alerts are spread to the public.
Over the remaining days, the group will tour:
- The National Institute of Nutrition, run by the Indian Council of Medical Research, to see nutrition research and public health work
- An ESIC Hospital under the Ministry of Labour and Employment to understand healthcare services for workers
- An exhibition of Telangana handlooms and handicrafts under the Ministry of Textiles to learn about traditional crafts and artisan support
- Cultural sites including the Salar Jung Museum, Charminar and Laad Bazaar
What this means for you
This tour allows Uttarakhand journalists direct access to information about Central Government schemes and development projects. The journalists are expected to share what they learn with people back home in Uttarakhand, increasing public awareness about how these institutions work and what programmes the Government is running across India.
