Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a coal production company under the Ministry of Coal, has started Special Campaign 6.0 to improve cleanliness, sustainability and how well the organisation runs. The initiative combines the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances’ ‘Waste to Wealth’ theme with the Ministry of Coal’s ‘eWaste Management’ focus. It will involve employees across ECL’s operations in a two-phase effort running through October 2026.
What the campaign will do
Special Campaign 6.0 will work on four main areas:
- Managing and disposing of electronic waste properly
- Reducing the backlog of pending public grievances, appeals and communications from MPs and state governments
- Making better use of office space by identifying and removing scrap and obsolete items
- Moving towards paperless operations through digitalisation
The effort has two stages. The Preparatory Phase runs from 15 September to 30 September 2026. The Implementation Phase follows from 2 October to 31 October 2026.
ECL’s Chairman and Managing Director Shri Satish Jha launched the campaign and called for active participation from all staff. The initiative will collect, sort and responsibly dispose of electronic waste while tackling pending grievances and communications from various stakeholders. ECL will also identify valueless items taking up office space and promote digital, environment-friendly workplace practices.
