The Indian Air Force’s Sarang Helicopter Display Team has arrived in Egypt to take part in the 2nd El Alamein International Airshow, running from 8 to 10 September 2026. The Ministry of Defence announced this participation as a mark of strengthening defence and diplomatic relations between India and Egypt. The Sarang team is the only five-helicopter aerobatic display unit of its kind in the world.
What the team will showcase
The Sarang team flies the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, which is designed and built in India. The team is known for executing complex formation flying, close-proximity manoeuvres and tightly synchronised aerial routines that demand precision and skill from its pilots.
At the El Alamein airshow, the team will perform two key displays. One is the “Dolphin Leap,” a manoeuvre the team is famous for. The other is a new manoeuvre being presented for the first time, called the Spot Stall Turn.
The display will demonstrate both the technical abilities of India’s indigenous helicopter platform and the high level of training and discipline maintained by Indian Air Force pilots.
