The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) at Jamnagar, which operates under the Ministry of Ayush, has entered into a partnership with the Heartfulness Institute in Hyderabad. The two organisations signed a five-year agreement in August 2026 to work together on promoting Ayurveda, holistic health practices and environmental responsibility.
What the partnership covers
The Memorandum of Understanding between ITRA and the Heartfulness Institute creates a framework for joint work in several areas. ITRA brings expertise in Ayurvedic education, clinical services and research, while the Heartfulness Institute contributes knowledge in meditation, yoga, lifestyle practices and ecological work.
The collaboration will focus on:
- Conducting research projects at national and international levels
- Exchanging students and teaching staff between the two organisations
- Developing joint academic programmes
- Sharing knowledge and building capacity in both institutions
- Developing new ideas and managing intellectual property
- Research on disease prevention and integrated wellness approaches
The agreement was formalised during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Heartfulness Institute’s campus in Kanha Shanti Vanam. The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav, Padma Bhushan Daji, Dr. Srinivas from NITI Aayog, and senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush and various state governments.
What this means for you
This partnership aims to make preventive and wellness-focused healthcare more available by combining traditional Ayurvedic methods with meditation and lifestyle practices. If you are an Ayurveda student, researcher or practitioner, you may have new opportunities to collaborate with the Heartfulness Institute or access joint programmes. The work on disease prevention could eventually lead to new integrated health approaches that combine Ayurvedic treatment with holistic wellness practices. The initiative also signals the Ministry of Ayush’s push toward evidence-based Ayurvedic practice and its expansion globally.
