A delegation of media professionals from Telangana visited two major institutions in Gujarat on 9 September 2026 as part of a media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau, Hyderabad, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The visit included stops at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar and Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, showcasing India’s advances in forensic science and financial infrastructure.
What the delegation saw
At the National Forensic Sciences University, Vice-Chancellor Dr. J. M. Vyas explained the institution’s work in forensic science research, technology and training. He noted that the Government of India has approved new NFSU campuses in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to expand forensic education across the country and build a larger pool of trained professionals.
The journalists toured NFSU’s forensic laboratories and multimedia forensics facilities, where experts demonstrated how audio, video and digital images are examined scientifically during investigations. The university’s Media Centre and specialised labs showed practical applications of forensic technology in crime detection.
The delegation then visited Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, an integrated financial and technology hub. Officials briefed them on the city’s infrastructure, regulatory framework and role as India’s International Financial Services Centre, covering international banking, capital markets, insurance, fund management and fintech services.
The journalists were shown GIFT City’s underground utility tunnel system, which houses power, ICT, water, sewage and waste management services in a unified network supporting the city’s “digging-free” concept. They also learned about the Automated Waste Collection System, which GIFT City describes as India’s first automated waste-management system of its kind.
