The Ministry of Labour and Employment has completed the first batch of a new executive training programme on labour law and social security compliance. The three-month course, developed jointly by Gujarat National Law University and the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security, wrapped up on 14 September 2026 with 60 industry professionals receiving certificates.
What the programme covered
The Executive Development Program on Labour Law and Social Security Compliance ran from 5 June to 14 September 2026. It included 23 evening sessions led by 16 senior instructors drawn from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation and legal academia. Participants attended classes through a hybrid format and completed practical case studies and written tests.
The curriculum was updated during the course to include recent changes such as the Code on Social Security 2020, revised rules for the Employees’ Provident Fund, Employees’ Pension Scheme and Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance scheme, and current practices in the EPFO digital system. The final four days of the programme, from 9 to 12 September, involved on-campus practical work and formal examinations at Gujarat National Law University in Gandhinagar.
The programme was designed to address a gap between what is taught in theory and what organisations actually face in implementing labour compliance. Its stated goal is to shift corporate thinking away from minimal, rule-book compliance towards genuine understanding and ethical practice of social security requirements.
