The Ministry of Communications has completed a renovation of the Guna Head Post Office in Madhya Pradesh. Union Minister for Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the upgraded facility on 17 September 2026. The modernisation is part of a nationwide effort to improve postal infrastructure and service delivery across the country.
What was done and how much it cost
The Guna Head Post Office underwent renovation and aesthetic upgrades at a cost of approximately ₹38 lakh. The redesign followed guidelines set by the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, as part of the Department of Posts’ broader modernisation drive.
The renovated office now includes several customer-focused improvements:
- A token system that allows customers to take a number and wait in an orderly manner instead of crowding around counters
- Digital display screens showing the expected time required for different postal services. For example, a duplicate passbook can be issued within one day
- A modern and improved physical environment designed to be more welcoming to the public
The minister also spoke about the digital transformation of postal services. Two mobile applications—Dak Sewa and Dak Mitra—now allow citizens to access various postal services from home without visiting the office repeatedly for every task.
