The Ministry of Coal’s Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has announced plans to clean and organise more than 10 lakh square feet of space across its offices, residential colonies and other facilities. The drive forms part of the Government of India’s Special Campaign 6.0, which will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The campaign targets cleanliness, better use of workspace and proper waste disposal across government establishments.
What MCL will do
MCL’s cleanup effort represents a significant increase from the previous campaign, when the company covered 6.12 lakh square feet. The Special Campaign 6.0 focuses on several areas:
- Building a culture of cleanliness and organised workplaces
- Better use of available office and facility space
- Reducing pending tasks and administrative backlog
- Proper collection, sorting and disposal of waste
A major emphasis this year will be on electronic waste management. MCL will identify, separate and dispose of old and unused electronic equipment in its offices according to existing rules. The company views this as part of responsible environmental practices alongside creating cleaner and safer workspaces.
The campaign will also focus on space optimisation. Teams will identify and remove unwanted, outdated and unused materials from offices and colonies to make better use of available areas.
