The Press Information Bureau (PIB), under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, plays a crucial role in connecting government policies with ordinary citizens, according to Shri Siddharth Bodke, Additional Director General of PIB Ahmedabad. A media delegation from Telangana visited Ahmedabad on September 8, 2026, to learn about infrastructure projects and government communication efforts across Gujarat.
What the PIB does and what the delegation saw
During interactions with the Telangana journalists, Shri Bodke explained that PIB operates as a two-way channel. On one side, it shares information about central government policies and welfare schemes with citizens. On the other side, it collects feedback from the ground and reports it back to the government.
The 10-member media delegation’s visit included:
- A briefing at PIB Ahmedabad office on Ministry initiatives and development activities in Gujarat
- A visit to Kochrab Ashram, the historic site where Mahatma Gandhi established his base after returning from South Africa in 1915, to learn about its role in India’s independence struggle
- An interaction at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, where faculty discussed the institution’s work in urban planning, transit systems, sustainable habitat management, and architecture
- A visit to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) office and the Sabarmati High-Speed Rail Multimodal Transport Hub
At the Sabarmati Hub, officials explained how the facility will serve as a seamless interchange terminal. It integrates the upcoming High-Speed Rail terminal with Indian Railways, Ahmedabad Metro Rail, and the Bus Rapid Transit System. The hub also includes modern passenger facilities, parking infrastructure, and green building features.
