The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, through its arm the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), will host the 62nd Asia Pacific Network Information Centre Conference in Mumbai this September. Over 600 internet specialists, government officials and industry leaders from across the region will attend. The event will focus on how artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and rising digital demand are straining internet infrastructure.
What the conference will cover
APNIC 62 runs from 4 to 10 September 2026 in Mumbai. The conference is organised by NIXI and the Internet Service Providers Association of India with backing from MeitY and the Government of Maharashtra.
Sessions will examine:

- Internet governance
Senior government officials attending include Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. Opening keynotes will cover AI-driven network automation and the role of trust in cybersecurity.
On 8 September, NIXI and APNIC will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen deployment of IPv6 technology and routing security across India’s internet infrastructure.
