The NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) has launched two new tools to speed up the use of electric trucks in India’s freight sector. The Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport (PACT) and the ZET Marketplace were unveiled at the 5th e-FAST India Summit in September 2026. These initiatives aim to connect truck operators, logistics companies, manufacturers, financiers and charging infrastructure providers on a single platform.
What PACT and the ZET Marketplace do
PACT is designed to collect freight demand information from shipping companies and logistics service providers across different transport corridors. By gathering this demand data, the platform helps manufacturers and investors understand where zero-emission trucks are needed and can plan charging stations accordingly. The platform also improves the business case for electric trucks by creating predictable demand patterns.
The ZET Marketplace is an online space where electric truck makers, logistics companies, charging station operators, banks and technology firms can connect with each other. Participants can display their products, identify business opportunities and form partnerships to move electric freight projects forward.
The announcements came as India’s electric freight sector shows rapid growth. The number of electric medium and heavy-duty trucks deployed increased from 201 vehicles in the financial year 2024-25 to 826 in 2025-26. Over 3,000 such vehicles are currently operating across the country.
What this means for you
If you work in logistics, transport or supply chain management, these platforms offer new ways to connect with electric truck suppliers and financing options. For those involved in charging infrastructure or battery technology, the ZET Marketplace provides a direct channel to reach fleet operators and investors. The aggregation of freight demand through PACT may also create clearer investment signals for those considering entry into India’s clean transport sector, reducing uncertainty about where demand will emerge.
