What the dashboard tracks

PAIMANA stands for Project Assessment, Infrastructure Monitoring and Analytics for Nation-building. The dashboard monitors infrastructure performance using five standardized dimensions: Access, Quality, Fiscal Cost and Revenue, Utilization, and Affordability.

The 184 indicators are distributed across sectors as follows: Ports, Shipping and Waterways (62 indicators), Railways (37), Civil Aviation (30), Telecommunications (31), Power (14) and Road Transport and Highways (10).

Key performance trends

Roads are expanding rapidly, with highway projects awarded at a record pace. The 62.9% year-on-year increase in awarded projects signals strong pipeline development for future connectivity.

Telecommunications infrastructure is spreading to rural areas, with Gram Panchayat connectivity reaching over 2.23 lakh villages. High-speed fibre networks are expanding significantly to support digital adoption in the countryside.

Renewable energy is now the fastest-growing segment of India’s power capacity, with renewable sources expanding at 29.5% per annum compared to overall capacity growth of 12.1%. Renewables now account for more than two-fifths of total installed capacity.

Port traffic shows sustained growth across both major and non-major ports, with petroleum and crude products forming the largest cargo category at 29.2% of total handled volume. This reflects continued industrial and energy demand.

Air cargo has surged 12% annually, with Delhi airport emerging as the largest handler. Aviation sector also continues to attract international tourists, with foreign arrivals up 2% year-on-year.

Electronic toll collection has become the dominant payment method on national highways, with transaction volumes and values growing at double-digit rates. This reflects successful digitalization of highway infrastructure.

What this means for you

Citizens and policymakers can now access real-time infrastructure performance data through a single online platform. Researchers, analysts and governance professionals can use this data for evidence-based studies and policy recommendations.

The dashboard’s public availability supports transparency and accountability in infrastructure development, allowing stakeholders to track progress across sectors and identify areas needing attention.

For businesses, the data provides insights into capacity utilization rates and infrastructure readiness, aiding investment and logistics decisions.

What happens next

The dashboard will be updated quarterly. The next update is scheduled for 15 January 2027. The full PAIMANA Performance Monitoring Dashboard can be accessed at https://paimana-perf.mospi.gov.in
