The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has partnered with Saylor University in the United States to bring international online courses to its digital learning platform. The move, inaugurated by MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan in September 2026, will allow Indian learners to access courses from a major American university at no extra cost.
What the partnership includes
Through this collaboration, the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform will integrate Saylor University’s free online courses. These courses cover areas such as artificial intelligence, programming, data science, cybersecurity and business management. Saylor University offers more than 160 free courses in these subjects.
The NDU platform currently has over 2.80 lakh registered learners and offers 120 courses across emerging technology fields including cloud computing, semiconductor design and VLSI. It reaches learners across all 36 states and union territories and 761 districts.
At the same time, NIELIT signed agreements with eight partner organisations including the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), NASSCOM, the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India, Pearson India, Dassault Systèmes, ABES Engineering College and Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University. These partnerships aim to expand industry-aligned training, certifications, internships and faculty development through the NDU platform.
What this means for you
If you are a student or working professional looking to learn technology skills, you now have access to international-standard courses at no extra cost through the NDU platform. The integration gives you flexibility to study at your own pace, whether you are in a major city or a smaller town. The courses align with industry needs, so completing them can improve your job prospects and help you stay competitive as technology changes rapidly.
