The Ministry of Railways is preparing to launch Special Campaign 6 for Institutionalizing Swachhata and Disposal of Pending Matters across its network. This government-wide initiative will run in two phases starting mid-September 2026, touching every railway zone, divisional office, public sector undertaking and training institute under Indian Railways.
Key Details of the Campaign
The campaign divides into two stages. The Preparatory Phase runs from 15 to 30 September 2026, during which targets will be set and plans finalized. The Implementation Phase then runs from 2 to 31 October 2026, when actual work will be executed.
Four main areas have been identified for focus:
- Proper collection, segregation and disposal of electronic waste following the E-Waste Management Rules, 2022
- Disposal of scrap materials under General Financial Rules
- Better use and beautification of office spaces
- Clearing pending references and simplifying processes and rules
More than 150 nodal officers have been appointed across Indian Railways to supervise and coordinate activities. These officers will send daily progress reports to the Railway Board, which will feed information into a central monitoring system for real-time tracking and weekly reviews.
During the previous campaign cycle, Railway Ministry achieved significant results: it resolved 100 percent of public grievance targets, released 6.06 lakh square feet of space and generated ₹570 crore in revenue.
The Ministry will also organize “Rail Jan Samvaad” during this campaign to strengthen dialogue with the public, building on similar engagement exercises held in earlier campaign cycles.
What This Means for You
If you have pending grievances with Indian Railways, this campaign period offers a structured effort to clear the backlog. Railway staff across the country will be focused on resolving old complaints and references. The campaign also aims to improve railway office spaces and ensure proper disposal of electronic waste, which may indirectly improve service delivery environments.
