Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian during the BRICS Summit in New Delhi on 11 September 2026. This was their second meeting within a fortnight, following an earlier encounter at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek on 31 August. The Prime Minister’s Office announced the meeting on behalf of the government.
What was discussed
The two leaders covered several areas of their bilateral relationship. The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Iran’s sustained participation in BRICS meetings despite difficult circumstances. Both leaders acknowledged the value of their countries working together within multilateral organisations, particularly BRICS, on subjects where they share common ground.
