Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi distributes more than 51,000 appointment letters to the newly appointed youth in Government at 20th Rozgar Mela

Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed out over 51,000 appointment letters to newly hired government employees at the 20th Rozgar Mela event held via video conference. The distribution marks a major step in the government’s push to bring fresh talent into the civil service. The Prime Minister used the occasion to outline his administration’s broader strategy for youth employment and economic growth.

Key details and numbers

The 20th Rozgar Mela distributed appointment letters to more than 51,000 young people joining various government organizations. The Prime Minister highlighted several ongoing government schemes aimed at youth employment and skilling. The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana is a one lakh crore rupee initiative designed to bring two crore youths into formal work for the first time, offering up to 15,000 rupees in incentives for first-time employees and financial rewards to employers creating new jobs.

On the skilling front, the government is running the PM-SETU scheme, which is upgrading one thousand government Industrial Training Institutes with 60,000 crore rupees in investment along with direct participation from industry partners. The Mission Karmayogi framework is being used to encourage continuous learning among government employees, with 1.7 crore workers currently registered on the iGOT platform. The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and Skill India Mission are also supporting youth preparation for employment.

The Prime Minister noted that India ranks as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, with nearly half of all recognized startups now located in tier-two and tier-three cities rather than major metropolitan centres. He also referenced trade agreements with approximately 40 countries as creating fresh career opportunities for Indian youth.

What this means for you

If you are seeking government employment, the Rozgar Mela represents the scale at which the administration is hiring. Young people entering the civil service will receive training through Mission Karmayogi and the Karmayogi Prarambh module designed for new recruits. If you are interested in starting a business or working in the private sector, government schemes offer incentives for first-time formal employment and employer incentives for job creation, while the expanded startup ecosystem, particularly outside major cities, offers new opportunities for entrepreneurship.
