Progress and preparation for Special Campaign 6.0 by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has announced the launch of Special Campaign 6.0, a government-wide initiative to clear pending administrative matters and improve office efficiency. The campaign will run from 2 to 31 October 2026, with a preparatory phase beginning 15 September 2026. This annual drive affects all central government offices under the ministry’s purview.

What the campaign will do

Special Campaign 6.0 will prioritise the proper handling of electronic waste across field offices, along with clearing pending references from the Prime Minister’s Office, Parliament, and State Governments. The campaign operates in two stages. The Preparatory Phase (15 to 30 September 2026) focuses on planning and assessment, including identifying pending matters, measuring the volume of materials to be disposed of, and setting procedures. The Implementation Phase (2 to 31 October 2026) involves actual disposal work, with emphasis on collecting and segregating electronic waste according to environmental guidelines.

During the previous period from November 2025 to August 2026, the ministry and its offices achieved significant results. They reviewed 5,617 files in physical and digital form, cleared 467 physical files, and closed 4,680 e-files. The ministry processed 426 public grievances and 65 grievance appeals. Additionally, 61 cleanliness campaigns were conducted across the country, and scrap disposal generated Rs 34,105 in revenue.

The ministry aims to strengthen record management practices and improve office space utilisation while ensuring compliance with electronic waste disposal guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

What this means for you

If you have pending grievances with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation or its subordinate offices, the campaign period offers a dedicated window for faster resolution. Citizens and organisations awaiting responses to matters referred through the PMO or Parliament may see quicker action during this two-month drive. The exercise primarily aims at internal government efficiency rather than direct public benefits, but cleaner, better-organised offices can improve service delivery in the long term.
