Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is launching the second batch of its Masters in Financial and Economic Security (MFES) programme in November 2026. The university is partnering with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) as knowledge partners to deliver the course.

The programme targets working professionals seeking specialised training in emerging financial crimes, digital asset security and economic threats. The first batch, which concluded successfully, included more than 40 participants from banking, law enforcement, investigation, academia, entrepreneurship and legal services.

  • Duration: One year
  • Format: Hybrid mode (blending online and in-person sessions)
  • Eligibility: Open to national and international professionals
  • First batch strength: More than 40 professionals
  • Registrations: Through official RRU admission portal
  • Partner institutions: Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, IRDAI

Why this programme was created

India’s financial systems face mounting risks from evolving criminal tactics that extend beyond traditional fraud into virtual digital assets, terror financing, proliferation financing and technology-enabled crimes. Global economic integration exposes India to cross-border financial threats while sophisticated technologies enable criminal networks to launch increasingly complex attacks. Financial institutions, regulators and law enforcement agencies need professionals trained to identify, prevent and respond to these emerging risks. RRU developed the MFES programme to build a specialised cadre capable of strengthening India’s economic resilience and contributing to global financial stability.

Programme structure and content

The MFES is a one-year programme designed for working professionals who cannot abandon their jobs. The hybrid delivery model allows participants to pursue academic study while maintaining their professional responsibilities. The curriculum emphasises practical learning, hands-on training and real-world exposure to contemporary financial security challenges.

Faculty include both academic researchers and experienced practitioners from banking, investigation, law enforcement and financial services. This combination ensures the curriculum reflects both theoretical frameworks and field realities. Participants will gain multidisciplinary understanding spanning regulatory, investigative, technical and strategic dimensions of financial security.

Who can apply

The second batch welcomes both Indian and international professionals. Candidates should have relevant professional background in areas such as banking, finance, investigation, law enforcement, legal services, corporate compliance or allied fields. Admissions are through the official RRU portal, with registration currently open.

What this means for you

If you work in banking, compliance, law enforcement, investigation or financial regulation, this masters programme offers specialised credentials in a rapidly growing field. The hybrid format means you need not quit your job. Completing the programme positions you for senior roles in financial crime investigation, regulatory compliance, risk management or economic security policy. The exposure to international participants provides networking opportunities in a global profession.

For institutions like banks, law enforcement agencies and financial regulators, the programme provides access to professionally certified staff trained in emerging threats. The involvement of IRDAI signals that insurance sector employers recognise and value this qualification.

Connection to national goals

The programme aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat @2047 vision by developing skilled professionals who protect financial systems, strengthen institutional capacity and respond to economic security threats. As India’s economy grows and integrates deeper with global markets, such specialised expertise becomes critical infrastructure for stable, inclusive and sustainable development.
