MGNREGA no longer exists as a separate law. It was repealed on 1 July 2026 and replaced by the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, which carries the same core promise but a bigger one. Every rural household whose adults are willing to do unskilled manual labour is now guaranteed at least 125 days of paid work in a financial year, up from the old 100 days.
You apply at your Gram Panchayat for a Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card. If you already hold an MGNREGA job card that has passed e-KYC, it stays valid while the new cards are issued, and nobody can be denied work merely because their e-KYC is pending.
Wages go straight to your bank or post office account, weekly or within 15 days of the muster roll closing. If payment is late you are owed compensation, and if work is not given within the stipulated time you can claim an unemployment allowance.
What you get
