The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises opened a new Technology Centre in Devanahalli, Bengaluru on 10 September 2026. Union Minister of State for MSME Sushri Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated the facility. The centre will support small businesses and train workers in electronics manufacturing and related fields.
What the Centre Offers
The Technology Centre has been built on 10 acres of land provided by the Government of Karnataka, with the Ministry of MSME investing ₹156 crore. The centre specialises in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and will train approximately 10,000 people every year.
The facility is equipped with modern machinery and laboratories. These include Surface-Mount Technology lines, additive manufacturing equipment, CNC machines (both 5-axis and 3-axis variants), and Electric Discharge Machines. Small businesses can access these technologies for design work, prototyping, testing and production support.
This Technology Centre is part of a nationwide network run by the Ministry of MSME. These centres help small enterprises improve their technological capabilities and compete better in the market. They also offer design support, prototyping services, testing facilities and advice to businesses.
During the inauguration, the Minister of State announced that another Technology Centre would be built in Belagaum, Karnataka at a cost of ₹178 crore.
What This Means for You
If you work in small electronics manufacturing businesses or the aerospace sector in Karnataka or elsewhere in India, this centre provides access to expensive equipment and technical training you might not otherwise afford. Young people seeking industry-oriented skills in manufacturing and design can enrol for training programmes here. The centre aims to create jobs and develop a skilled workforce while helping small businesses grow stronger and more competitive.
