Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan visited Manipur on September 8, 2026, to pay tribute to India’s freedom struggle. He toured the INA Museum at Moirang and later addressed cadets at Sainik School Imphal, emphasising the role of young people in nation-building.
What happened during the visit
The Vice-President began his day at the INA Museum in Moirang, where he toured the War Museum gallery and paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Moirang holds particular historical importance as the site where the Indian Tricolour was first hoisted on Indian soil by the Indian National Army.
He then travelled to Sainik School Imphal, where cadets gave him a Guard of Honour at the War Memorial. The Vice-President shared lunch with the students and spent time in direct conversation with them.

Speaking to the cadets, the Vice-President highlighted three core values he wants young people to develop: discipline, courage and leadership. He stressed that discipline forms the bedrock of achievement, noting that talent alone is not enough. On courage, he said it means standing up for others facing unfair treatment. For leadership, he emphasised accepting responsibility, setting an example, listening to others and making morally sound decisions.
He called attention to Sainik Schools’ role in binding India together, as students from different regions and backgrounds study, train and eat together. This, he said, strengthens the spirit of national unity.
The Vice-President urged students to hold onto timeless values of discipline, integrity and patriotism while becoming skilled in new areas such as artificial intelligence, space technology, biotechnology, cybersecurity and robotics. He praised the Northeast as an integral part of India and acknowledged the region’s contributions.
On building a developed India, he told students that each person can contribute by doing their duty well every single day, and that such individual commitment adds up to national progress.
