The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has announced that Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will launch a dedicated online portal for Special Campaign 6 on 16th September, 2026. This annual government-wide exercise aims to clean up offices, reduce paperwork backlog, and manage waste across all ministries and departments. The campaign will run in two phases: a preparatory period and an active implementation month.
Key details of Special Campaign 6
The preparatory phase runs from 16th to 30th September, 2026. During this period, government ministries and departments will identify pending work, prepare their office spaces, plan for waste disposal, and get their staff ready.
The actual implementation phase takes place from 2nd to 31st October, 2026. All 84 ministries and departments of the Government of India, along with their attached offices, subordinate offices, autonomous bodies, field offices and Indian missions abroad will participate.
A key focus area for this edition is proper handling of electronic waste. The campaign will emphasize best practices that are citizen-friendly and inclusive.
Since 2021, five editions of this special campaign and monthly monitoring have delivered measurable results:
- Over 24.20 lakh work sites have been covered
- More than 180.48 lakh files have been removed or closed
- Revenue of over ₹5,102.91 crore has been generated through scrap sales
In the most recent edition alone (Special Campaign 5), nearly 11.6 lakh sites were covered, 29.52 lakh files were weeded out, 233.75 lakh square feet of office space was freed, and around ₹833.92 crore was earned from scrap disposal.
