The Ministry of Culture will hold a grand ceremony on September 17 at the Secunderabad Parade Ground to mark Hyderabad Liberation Day. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest for the event. The celebration will honour the integration of the former Hyderabad State into India and recognise those who contributed to this historical moment.
What the event will include
The ceremony will feature the participation of ten contingents from central armed police forces in a march-past, which the Vice President will inspect. A cultural performance centred on “Hyderabad Vimochanam” (Hyderabad Liberation) will be staged during the programme. Students who won the Hyderabad Liberation Day Quiz Competition held at the Salar Jung Museum will be honoured at the event.
The gathering will include several senior officials and ministers, among them the Governor of Telangana, the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, the Union Minister for Coal and Mines, and the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs. The Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force and the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force will also attend.
As part of the celebrations, participants will sing “Vande Mataram,” India’s national song. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has organised a special exhibition at the venue that documents the historical events connected to Hyderabad Liberation Day and highlights themes of national unity and integrity. The exhibition was inaugurated by Bandaru Dattatreya, a former Governor of Haryana, and has already been visited by thousands of school students.
