The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has announced its participation in Special Campaign 6, a government-wide initiative running from 2 October to 31 October 2026. The campaign aims to promote cleanliness in government offices and clear pending work. The ministry will work alongside its offices, subordinate bodies and public sector units to carry out this drive.
What the campaign involves
Special Campaign 6 will run in two phases. A preparatory phase takes place from 15 to 30 September 2026, followed by the implementation phase from 2 to 31 October 2026.
The campaign has two main focuses this year:
- Proper collection, sorting and disposal of electronic waste, following the rules set out in the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022
- Clearing pending work in government offices, including references from Members of Parliament, requests from State Governments, messages between ministries, assurances given to Parliament, references from the Prime Minister’s Office, public complaints, and appeals on the CPGRAMS portal
The campaign also emphasises cleaning and improving field offices and outstation offices that directly serve the public. Partner organisations such as the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and NBCC India Limited have agreed to help with outdoor cleaning activities, repairs to building exteriors, and awareness programmes about e-waste management.
