The Ministry of Ayush held the sixth meeting of the Institute Finance Committee for the National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH) in Kottayam on September 14, 2026. The committee, led by Joint Secretary Ms. Alarmelmangai D., reviewed plans to improve research capabilities, laboratory quality and physical infrastructure at the institute.
What was discussed
The Finance Committee examined several aspects of NHRIMH’s operations. These included financial planning, academic programmes, research activities, infrastructure needs, staffing requirements and administrative systems.
Key focus areas included:
- Expanding research programmes and upgrading laboratory facilities for advanced studies in neurological and psychiatric disorders
- Strengthening quality assurance in laboratory services and moving towards formal accreditation of lab facilities
- Improving energy efficiency, safety systems and routine maintenance of the institute’s buildings and equipment
- Building partnerships with other national and state-level institutions through memorandums of understanding to support research collaboration and staff training
- Organising a National Conference on World Mental Health Day
The committee stressed that all approved construction and development work should be completed on time, with careful attention to spending money wisely, maintaining quality standards and using resources effectively.
During the meeting, Ms. Alarmelmangai D. inaugurated a new Skill Laboratory for postgraduate students at NHRIMH. She also visited the outpatient and inpatient wards, where she met with students, staff members and patients to review the institute’s teaching, research and patient services.
