Salar Jung Museum Organises “Hyderabad Liberation Day Inter-School Quiz ” for School Students

The Salar Jung Museum, working with the Ministry of Culture, has organised an inter-school quiz competition to mark the 79th Hyderabad Liberation Day. The event brought together middle school students from across Hyderabad to test their knowledge of the city’s history and culture.

Event Details and Results

The quiz was open to students in grades 6 to 8 from schools across Hyderabad and Secunderabad. More than 150 students from 25 schools took part in the preliminary rounds. Sixteen teams advanced to the final round of competition.

Three schools won recognition for their performance:

  • Army Public School, Bolarum secured first place
  • Little Flower School, Abids came second
  • PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Trimulgherry finished third

The winning teams will receive felicitation from the Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, at a ceremony at Parade Grounds during the broader 79th Hyderabad Liberation Day Celebrations.

Purpose Behind the Initiative

Ms. Joyoti Roy, Curator (Education) at the Salar Jung Museum, explained that the quiz was designed to give students an engaging way to learn about Hyderabad’s history and culture. Rather than a one-way learning experience, the competition allowed young people to actively participate with local heritage through an interactive format. The museum saw the event as part of its broader role in using educational and cultural platforms to inform students about their city.

What This Means for You

If you are a school student in grades 6 to 8 in the Hyderabad area, this quiz shows that cultural institutions are creating opportunities for you to engage with local history in competitive and rewarding settings. Similar initiatives may be organised in future years. Teachers can use such events to encourage students to develop deeper knowledge of regional heritage beyond textbooks.
