The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has approved new investment plans worth ₹735.70 crore for Industrial Training Institute clusters in three states. This approval came from the 5th National Steering Committee meeting of the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme. The decision will affect thousands of ITI students and trainees across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana who will benefit from upgraded facilities and new courses.
The Investment Breakdown
The committee approved Strategic Investment Plans for three separate ITI clusters:
- Rajasthan: ₹241.00 crore for the Bhiwadi ITI cluster, led by H.G. Infra Engineering Limited. This cluster includes Government ITI Bhiwadi as the central hub, supported by four other government ITIs in Alwar, Neemrana, Tijara and Kishangarh Bas.
- Telangana: ₹254.30 crore for the Medchal ITI cluster, managed by ZEN Technologies Limited. This cluster has Government ITI Medchal as the hub with four spoke ITIs in Alwal, Shameerpet, Kukunoorpally and Siddipet.
- Uttar Pradesh: ₹240.40 crore for the Meerut ITI cluster, coordinated by the National Skill Development Corporation. Government ITI Saket Meerut serves as the hub with spoke centres in Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Baghpat.
These approvals bring the total money sanctioned under PM-SETU to ₹2,171 crore across 9 ITI clusters nationwide. The investments will fund infrastructure upgrades, introduction of new courses aligned with industry needs, and strengthening of operational systems. Rajasthan made history by becoming the first state to sign a formal Shareholders’ Agreement with the scheme, officially beginning implementation activities for its cluster.
