The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, and the MSME-Development Office in Ranchi jointly held a two-day vendor development event on 9th and 10th September 2026. The programme brought together small business owners and government organisations to explore working relationships and business opportunities.
What happened at the programme
Over 200 micro and small enterprise owners attended technical sessions where officials from major public sector organisations explained their purchasing processes. Participating organisations included CMPDI, Coal India (Central Colliery), SAIL’s Bokaro plant, Hindustan Copper, South Eastern Railway, GAIL, NTPC Mining and others.
The event covered several practical topics:
- How to register as a vendor on GeM, the Government e-Marketplace
- The Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) for getting faster payments
- Public procurement policies that apply when selling to government organisations
- Schemes available to general entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, and SC/ST entrepreneurs from both central and state governments
Five government organisations and 15 small business units set up exhibition stalls showcasing their products and services. CMPDI’s leadership emphasised that the programme was designed to help small enterprises grow by connecting them directly with large corporate buyers, rather than serving as a simple one-time meeting between buyers and sellers.
