Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Leads Indian Diaspora at ‘Sundays on Cycle’ in Nagoya to Cheer for Bharat

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised a cycling event in Nagoya, Japan, to bring together members of the Indian diaspora and support Indian athletes competing at the Asian Games 2026. Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led the 91st edition of ‘Sundays on Cycle’ on September 20, 2026, at Meijō Park, rallying the overseas Indian community to cheer for Team India.

What happened and the scale of participation

The event was part of the Fit India Movement, which promotes fitness and healthy living. Dr. Mandaviya noted that India has over 500 young athletes competing in the Asian Games, and he praised the diaspora in Nagoya for showing enthusiasm to support these competitors through the cycling initiative.

The ‘Sundays on Cycle’ programme is organised jointly by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Cycling Federation of India, the Raahgiri Foundation, and MY Bharat. The event runs simultaneously across all States and Union Territories, including at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence, SAI Training Centres, and Khelo India State Centres of Excellence.

Additionally, over 6,000 NAMO Fit India clubs organise this cycling initiative every week across the country as part of the broader fitness campaign. The initiative connects people through the shared interest in cycling while promoting both sports excellence and community health.

What this means for you

If you are part of the Indian diaspora or involved in fitness activities, you now know that the government is using global sporting events like the Asian Games to strengthen connections with overseas Indian communities. The ‘Sundays on Cycle’ programme demonstrates how fitness drives can mobilise public participation while supporting national athletes on the international stage.

For those living in India, the weekly cycling events organised through Fit India clubs in your area provide an opportunity to participate in organised fitness activities that align with the government’s broader health and wellness agenda.
