The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has announced Special Campaign 6.0, which will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The initiative aims to improve cleanliness standards across government agricultural offices, reduce pending work, and enhance public experience when dealing with these departments. It also focuses on proper collection and disposal of electronic waste generated in government workplaces.
What happened in the previous campaign
During Special Campaign 5.0, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare undertook a wide-ranging cleanliness effort across its headquarters and subordinate offices throughout the country. The department worked on clearing accumulated grievances from farmers, particularly those related to major schemes. Activities included plantation drives and cleaning of public spaces at many organisations under the ministry.
The previous campaign achieved notable results. The department cleared all 177,336 pending public grievances and reviewed over 31,000 physical files stored in offices. It weeded out nearly 10,600 outdated files and freed up more than 18,000 square feet of office space. The department also generated revenue of Rs 40,38,150 from disposing of waste materials. In addition, it resolved 31 out of 32 pending references from Members of Parliament.
A significant focus of the last campaign was converting electronic waste into useful items. Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institutes created working models of equipment used by farmers, including drones, tractors and cultivators, all built from recycled e-waste materials. These were showcased at a workshop organised jointly with the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.
