The Ministry of Food Processing Industries held the PMFME Conclave 2026 on 24–25 August 2026 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan inaugurated the event, which brought together over 500 stakeholders to discuss how to strengthen India’s micro food processing businesses. A key feature was the PMFME Bazaar, an exhibition showcasing food products from across the country.
What happened at the event
The PMFME Bazaar displayed products from exhibitors across 25 States and Union Territories. The range included processed foods, millet-based products, spices, pickles, snacks, beverages and other value-added items. These products represent both traditional and region-specific food offerings made by micro enterprises, Self Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organisations, cooperatives and individual entrepreneurs.
The Conclave brought together representatives from all States and Union Territories, district officials, banks, financial institutions, government bodies, technical institutions and PMFME beneficiaries. Four technical sessions covered access to finance, entrepreneurship and incubation, domestic and global market linkages, and support for SHG-led food enterprises.
During the inaugural programme, the Ministry released a Coffee Table Book featuring 30 success stories of PMFME beneficiaries from different parts of India. The Ministry also launched FoodNova, its quarterly magazine on developments and innovations in the food processing sector.
Three memorandums of understanding were signed with APEDA, ONDC and NABKISAN to create stronger market and institutional connections for micro food enterprises. These partnerships aim to expand market access, promote digital commerce, and create opportunities in both domestic and export markets.
What this means for you
If you run a small food business or are part of a Self Help Group making food products, the PMFME scheme offers a platform to connect with buyers beyond your local area. The Bazaar and Conclave demonstrate the Ministry’s focus on helping micro enterprises access better financing, technology support, quality improvement and branding assistance. The new partnerships with APEDA and ONDC may open pathways for your products into modern retail, online marketplaces and institutional procurement.
